Playhouse in The Park: Leon Beal and Chameleon with special guest Sympli Whitney
August 13 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
A native of Jasper Florida, Leon Beal began singing in church before moving to Boston at a young age where he led his own Gospel group the Apostles and toured with the Ronald Ingram Concert Choir, performing shows across the USA with American Gospel Music heroes James Cleveland, The Caravans, and Edwin Hawkins. His own R&B band Joy-Ful appeared on shows with the Temptations, Blue Magic, Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, the Whispers, the Stylistics and many others.
Recent tours have found Leon in South America with the Igor Prado Band, and in Europe with Sax Gordon. In the USA Leon has had the honor of performing at private events for presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama and continues to be a popular performer on the Boston music scene leading his own band and appearing as a special guest at festivals, clubs, and theater shows, using his powerful message of love, brotherhood, and peace to address the issues facing the USA and the world today.
In July 2019 Leon Beal will bring his message to Europe in the company of frequent collaborator Sax Gordon and the band of Luca Giordano, who’s becoming well-known for both his own soulful sound and his performances with the best of today’s Blues artists on tour in Europe, the USA, and South America.
