DESCRIPTION:Join the Boston Nature Center the Emerald Necklace Conservancy and Franklin Park Coalition at Franklin Park’s Scarboro Pond to learn more about its aquatic environment. \nIn Pond Life Exploration\, we will learn about all the creatures that live in and around ponds – from dragonflies to voles and shrews\, and the birds that eat them. DESCRIPTION:Please come to this important community meeting to voice your ideas as neighbors and park advocates. \nInvitation: \nThe Commonwealth\, with a consultant team and community input\, is engaging in a master planning process – through June 2019 — to make recommendations for the future use of the Campus. The next community meeting is coming up on January 16th\, from 6:30-9: 00 pm at the Golf Clubhouse in Franklin Park. Doors open at 5:45 pm. A Spanish interpreter will be provided for the meeting. DESCRIPTION:Franklin Park Coalition encourages neighbors and members to attend the upcoming meeting organized by the Division of Capital Asset Management (DCAM)\, feel free to review background information on current advocacy projects in Franklin Park. \nEvent info from DCAM: \nShattuck Campus Planning Community Meetings\nWhat: A community meeting for the Shattuck Campus Planning project will be held on Wednesday\, September 26\, 2018\, from 6:30 pm – 8:45 pm at the Golf Clubhouse in Franklin Park. Doors open at 5:45 pm.  \nIn 2021\, the Commonwealth will relocate Shattuck Hospital services from the Jamaica Plain campus to the Newton Pavilion at the Boston Medical Center campus. The Executive Office of Health and Human Services and the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance are leading a ten-month planning process\, which will end in June 2019 with recommendations for future use of the current Shattuck Campus. \nThe meeting will include: \n\nan orientation to community residents and interested persons to planning process and the planning parameters\nan introduction of key people in the process to the community\na presentation of some key data and health indicators\nan opportunity for participants to share ideas/concerns\n\nA Spanish interpreter will be provided for the meeting. DESCRIPTION:Of interest to Franklin Park Coalition Members: \nThe Norman B. Leventhal Map & Education Center invites a panel of experts to address the question of how cities can achieve equitable access to open spaces. Panelists will expand upon barriers to access\, and the interwoven challenges of environmental stewardship\, resilient infrastructure\, and transportation; they will also talk about solutions\, and the ways that audience members can engage politically to advocate for their open spaces. Panelists include Madhu C. Dutta-Koehler\, Associate Professor of Practice and Director of City Planning and Urban Affairs at Boston University; Ted Landsmark\, Distinguished Professor of Public Policy and Urban Affairs and Director of the Kitty and Michael Dukakis Center for Urban and Regional Policy; and Kevin Essington\, Director\, Southern New England Area at The Trust for Public Land. The panel will be moderated by Chris Cook\, Chief of Environment\, Energy\, and Open Space for the City of Boston. \nFollowing a question-and-answer session\, audience members and panelists are invited to view the Leventhal Map Center’s exhibition\, Breathing Room: Mapping Boston’s Green Spaces. \nRSVP
