Weeds as Feed: Finding Edible & Medicinal Plants
Walk with Pam Kristan, local naturalist and FPC member on this popular spring tour. Learn about the goodies that grow in the park and how to cook Japanese Knotweed for dessert. Sample a homemade treat from park ingredients. Bring clippers and a bag for harvesting. Meet at the Glen Road Entrance.

Franklin Park Coalition Annual Meeting

Members and newcomers - help us celebrate an exciting year of park programs and improvements. Chat with neighbors, learn more about what's happening in your park, and support your park organization. Monthly Woodlands Volunteer Team work day
Become a regular in Franklin Park's forest. The last Saturday of the month the Woodlands Volunteer Team will work together clearing invasives, ammending soil, restoring trails, and planting young trees. Get trained in native forest restoration work and socialize with other dedicated folks. Tools, gloves, and refreshments provided. Franklin Park Transportation & Access Meeting

Come learn about a transportation study currently being conducted for Franklin Park. Offer input about improvements you want to see and your experiences. Too many cars? Not enough parking? Too little access for bikes, walkers, drivers, or T riders? How are the crosswalks and roads leading to the park? Are speeding cars a problem? What about vehicles in the park, like golf carts and maintenance trucks? At the Golf Clubhouse. Refreshments and child care provided - please call or email in advance if you are bringing children.

National Trails Day

In partnership with wilderness outfitters, REI, there'll be volunteer projects throughout the woodlands - maintaining paths, clearing invasives, and other restoration projects. Coffee & donuts to start. Wear old clothes and bring a water bottle! Meet at Valley Gates Parking Lot, midway along the main park road.

Greater Roxbury Track Club Classic

Annual track & field event for all ages. Volunteers welcome! For more information to the GRTC website. Events all day at White Stadium.

Puerto Rican Festival

Festival music, carnival rides, food, and vendors on the Playstead ballfields between the Stadium and the Zoo. Parade on Sunday at noon from New Dudley St in Roxbury, past Reggie Lewis, along Columbus Ave to Seaver St, to Walnut Ave and arriving in the park at White Stadium. Roads closed from 10-2pm.

Summer
Tuesday, July 8th 6:00 pm
Elma Lewis Playhouse in the Park Opening Night.

We welcome Odetta back 40 years after her first Playhouse performance in 1968. Don't miss this historic show!

-Playhouse shows for children and youth every Tuesday morning at 10:30 from July 15 - August 19th  

-Evening shows Tuesday evenings at 6:00pm for everyone through August 12th; Mayor's Movie Night to close the season on Monday, August 18th at dusk. Check back for a full program soon. 

Self-Guided Tours
We have three different self-guided poetry tours of Franklin Park's historical and scenic places. Gather a group of friends or neighbors to tour the park with you! Contact us to get a copy.
